  • If your business is within town limits then your application will be reviewed by the Town's Development Services Department, Building Department, and the Chino Valley Fire District Fire Marshall, and can take up to 15 business days.
    If your business is outside of town limits then your application will be reviewed by the Development Services Department only. Your business license may take up to 15 business days to process.

  • Anyone located within or outside of the Chino Valley town limits, who engages in any business activity within the town limits needs a business license. “Business Activity” is defined as any activity or act, personal or corporate, engaged in or caused to be engaged in, with the object of gain, benefit or advantage, either directly or indirectly.

  • As of October 1, 2008, the “Legal Arizona Workers Act” requires individuals (sole proprietors) and non-statutory partnerships/associations to provide proof of lawful presence in the U.S. before the Town can issue a business license.

  • If your business is located outside of the town limits, contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 928-636-2646 for further information. If your proposed business is within the town limits, contact the Development Services Department to determine if your proposed business location meets the Town’s zoning requirements.

  • A vocation, trade or profession that is conducted entirely within the home by member(s) of the family, and that does not alter the residential character of the surrounding neighborhood. Only home businesses within the Town limits need to so indicate on the Business License application. Before applying for your business license, you should contact the Development Services Department to determine if your proposed home business is permitted.

  • One year from the month that your license was issued. All renewal fees are due by the last day of the month and become delinquent after the 5th of the following month. For example, if your license was issued on May 20, 2015, your renewal will be due May 31, 2016, and your renewal will become delinquent on June 6, 2016.

  • Yes. If you have not paid your renewal fee within the time period above, you will be assessed a 100% delinquent fee. For example, if your annual fee is $61, your delinquent fee will be $61, totaling $122.

  • Licenses are not transferable. If you sell your business, please contact us, and also inform the new owner that they are required to apply again for a new license.

  • After 5 day of the renewal date, you will be assessed the 100% percent delinquent fine. At the end of that month, your license will be subject to revocation. After approximately 30 more days, your license will be revoked. Following a 15 day appeal period, your file may be turned over to the Town Prosecutor and you could be charged with a Class 3 Misdemeanor.

  • The Secretary of State handles business trade names. You can reach the Business Services Division at 602-542-7386. Fictitious name statements may also be recorded with the Yavapai County Recorder.

  • Please contact us if you no longer intend to conduct business in Town. If we do not hear from you, we are required to send letters reminding you of your renewal delinquency and revocation. We would rather not have to send such letters and we are sure you would rather not receive them, so do contact us by phone, email or fax.
