Officer Torres (SRO)

Current CVPD School Resource Officer (SRO), Officer Torres, grew up in Chino Valley for approximately 31 years. He was born in Mexico and came to the United States when he was about to turn one. He joined the Chino Valley Police Department in July 2019 as a recruit and graduated from Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy in December 2019 through Yavapai College. Since then, Officer Torres has served as a Patrol Officer, General Instructor and ALERRT AAIR (Active Attack Integrated Response) Instructor. Officer Torres is assigned as a SRO for the Chino Valley School District #51 in June 2023 and assigned to Heritage Middle School.

Officer Torres enjoys being a School Resource Officer. One of the most rewarding aspects of the job and has the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students, staff and the community.  He enjoys being a trusted mentor, role model and bringing positive influence in a young person’s life. He helps students navigate challenges both inside and outside of school. Whether it’s providing safety education, de-escalating conflicts, or simply being someone students can talk to. Students enjoy Officer Torres when he hands out police stickers and fist pumps or high fives. Additionally, he continues the yearly dodgeball tradition, where the 8th-grade Heritage Middle School students face off against CVPD. The SRO role allows him to make a real difference.

Officer Torres attended all four schools in Chino Valley and graduated CVHS in 2011. He is bilingual in English and Spanish. He enjoys spending quality time with his family of four. He loves to play cornhole and compete with other players in the American Cornhole League (ACL).

Officer Torres continues to learn new challenges and opportunities as a Police Officer and SRO.
